Local Health System Integration Act, 2006

Amendment to section 39 (1) (a) of the Local Health System Integration Act, 2006

The Local Health System Integration Act (LHSIA) has been amended to change the date in section 39(1)(a) of LHSIA by which the review of the Act by a committee of the Legislative Assembly must begin. LHSIA will now be reviewed commencing by July 1, 2012, which is two-years after the LHINs are required to have Service Accountability Agreements (SAAs) with all their providers (the last sector, the Long-Term Care Home Operators, with whom LHINs will have agreements of July 1st, 2010). (See e-laws for Ontario Regulation 279/07 – Exemptions for the exact dates for each of the SAAs).

The review of LHSIA was changed to ensure that the LHINs have assumed all of their powers under the Act before a review of the legislation takes place.

This amendment to LHSIA was included in the Creating the Foundation for Jobs and Growth Act, 2010, which received Royal Assent on May 18, 2010. This amendment is retroactive to March 28, 2010.

The Creating the Foundation for Jobs and Growth Act is now available in English and French on the e-laws website. The amendment has already been incorporated into the Local Health System Integration Act on e-laws .
