Health Bulletins

January 18 – 23 is Environmental Public Health Week

Dr. Arlene King, Chief Medical Officer of Health

I would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge all the work done by environmental public health professionals.

Environmental public health professionals provide a critical link to timely information for population health protection, disease prevention and intervention. They play a vital role in helping to protect the public from environmental hazards that affect our daily lives by conducting investigations and provide on-going education, inspections and enforcement regarding all aspects of environmental health, including areas such as food safety, air quality, drinking water and recreational water areas such as beaches, pools and spas.

Environmental public health professionals have also consistently stepped up and gone beyond the call of duty in crisis situations. They have continuously demonstrated expertise and professionalism in protecting the health of Ontarians. On behalf of all Ontarians, I would like to thank them for all their hard work and dedication.

Arlene King, MD, MHSc, FRCPC
Chief Medical Officer of Health
