Several months ago The Minister of Health and Long-Term Care struck an expert panel to review and report back to government on how to improve integration and access to acute health care services in Scarborough and West Durham. The panel was also directed to review the current and future infrastructure needs of the region.
The panel discussed how hospitals in the region could work together to better deliver services to meet the needs of local residents.
The panel worked in collaboration with a diverse group of community representatives, regional members of caucus, the Local Health Integration Networks, and the local hospital leaders from the Rouge Valley Health System, The Scarborough Hospital and Lakeridge Health.
The selected panel, chaired by Dr. Barry McLellan, has expertise in governance, health system transformation, capacity planning and program integration.
