February 2, 2012
The Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA) has released the schedule for the 2012 medical liability protection fees. As a result of the application of a substantial fee credit, CMPA fees for 2012 are at or below the 1986 base fees. Therefore there will be no Medical Liability Protection (MLP) program reimbursements for the 2012 fees. Since the membership fees have been set at or below the 1986 base fees, this will not impact physicians’ net costs for medical liability protection for 2012.
The timing of the impact depends on which reimbursement option you are registered for and also the type of work you practice (work type code). Refer to the timing impact summary to determine when you are affected.
For more information on medical liability protection fees, view the CMPA webpage at:
http://www.cmpa-acpm.ca/cmpapd04/docs/membership/fees/com_qa-e.pdf or contact the CMPA at 1-800-267-6522.

The Registration and Claims Branch (branch) is committed to delivering the best service possible to its clients. A full postal disruption began on June 15, 2011 which interrupted regular mail delivery. Thank you for your patience during the recent postal disruption.
As of June 28, 2011, the ministry’s claims processing mail delivery has returned to normal. All mail held by the ministry during the labour disruption, such as cheques, reports and correspondence will now be sent to Canada Post for delivery. The branch expects to receive mail held at Canada Post during the disruption within the next few days.
In the event of an interruption to Canada Post services, physicians registered under Option C can meet the June 30th, 2011 program deadline by faxing a completed Application for Reimbursement under the Medical Liability Protection (MLP) Program and proof of fees paid to: (613) 545-5810.
If you currently receive reimbursement by cheque, to avoid any postal delays consider switching to direct deposit by completing the Application for Direct Bank Payment form. If you have any questions, please feel free to call our office, contact information is listed in the "For More Information" section at the bottom of each web page.
Keep checking these web pages, as the ministry will continue to monitor the Canada Post situation and keep you informed.
