Questions and Answers for Health Care Providers
Answers to common questions regarding the new recommendations from the National Advisory Committee on Immunization (NACI) Statement on Seasonal Influenza Vaccine for 2011-2012.

Your patients look to you for trusted professional advice and guidance when it comes to managing their health. Research continues to reinforce the message that physicians are the most important influencers for individuals to get the flu vaccine.
The Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care has developed the Seasonal Influenza 2011 / 2012: Ontario's Blueprint for Action to outline the actions that the ministry, Public Health Ontario, and the Ministry of Labour are taking to support the health system’s response to seasonal influenza.
Many of the lessons learned from past influenza seasons – and from the 2009 influenza pandemic – can be found in the Blueprint.
Please contact emergencymanagement.moh@ontario.ca if you have any questions or concerns about the Blueprint.
To help health care providers respond effectively to patients’ questions about Ontario’s Universal Influenza Immunization Program (UIIP), we have developed an educational program with the assistance of the following faculty:
This program includes information on the National Advisory Committee on Immunization (NACI) recommendations, data on the 2010/11 influenza season and an update on this year’s vaccine.
A Continuing Medical Education program is also available for Immunization at http://www.health.gov.on.ca/en/pro/programs/immunization/education.aspx
