Ontario Public Health Organizational Standards

The Ontario Public Health Organizational Standards (Organizational Standards) were released in 2011 by the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care and the former Ministry of Health Promotion and Sport.  The Organizational Standards communicate the government’s expectations for the effective governance of boards of health and effective management of public health units.

The Organizational Standards are complementary to the Ontario Public Health Standards (OPHS) and support the Principles outlined in the OPHS through expectations related to board structure, board operations, leadership, trusteeship, community engagement and responsiveness, and management administration.
