Ontario Public Drug Programs – Executive Officer

Ontario list XXX drugs on its formulary and provides another XXX  on an exceptional access basis. At more than $XXX per year, it is one of the most generous, and expensive, public drug systems in Canada. Ontario Public Drug Programs was established in 2007 to administer that system and ensure that Ontarians are always getting better access to life-saving drugs.

OPDP is led by an Executive Officer whose mandate includes :

  • Administering the Ontario Public Drug Programs
  • Listing products on, or removing them from, the formulary
  • Negotiating agreements with manufacturers of drug products that ensure good value for tax dollars spent
  • Paying operators of pharmacies for professional services and determining the amount of payment

Under the leadership of the Executive Officer, Ontario Public Drug Programs works with manufacturers to improve the process for listing drugs, with a focus on better value for taxpayers, and faster decisions that are more responsive to the needs patients, prescribers and manufacturers.
