Implementing the changes to the drug system

On April 7, 2010 the government announced its intention to reduce most generic drug prices by at least 50 per cent, eliminate professional allowances and fairly compensate pharmacies for the patient care that pharmacists provide.

The Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care has now given the regulations final approval. The regulations came into effect on July 1, 2010.
