The New Drug Funding Program (NDFP)

What does the program cover?

The NDFP covers certain approved intravenous cancer drugs administered in hospitals.

You will find a list of cancer drugs covered and the type of cancer they are used for in the Cancer Drugs section of the Cancer Care Ontario website. Cancer Care Ontario oversees the NDFP while the ministry provides the funding.

Am I eligible?

To find out if you qualify for the NDFP, talk to your doctor. Your doctor will fill out the forms on your behalf. You must live in Ontario and have valid Ontario Health Insurance (OHIP) and have the type of cancer for which the drug is approved.

What costs will I pay?

The NDFP pays 100% of the cost of your approved cancer drugs if you:

If you receive your cancer drugs through any other health care provider – including private clinics, individuals or retail pharmacies – they may charge you for your treatment. The NDFP will not cover your costs.
