On March 11th 2011, Japan suffered a major earthquake and tsunami. This event came with little warning and has had serious consequences for the people in the affected area. Because of the significance of the events in Japan, media sources have been providing extensive covering this story.

Media stories about emergencies and human suffering can be troubling for anyone to hear about. Some Ontarians may be more affected by these stories because of their ties to a country that is experiencing an emergency or because these stories bring up memories of past experiences of natural or human caused disasters.
