HIV and AIDS
Ontario Advisory Committee on HIV/AIDS (OACHA)
OACHA provides broad social and health policy advice to the Minister of Health and Long-Term Care on all aspects of HIV/AIDS.
Membership consists of one third people who are living with HIV/AIDS; one third health care providers; and one third community representatives.
OACHA has developed an HIV/AIDS strategy for Ontario titled, Ontario's Strategy to Address HIV/AIDS to 2008. For more on the strategy go to OACHA Strategy.
Some of the areas OACHA is currently involved in are :
- public health reform in Ontario
- school-based HIV/AIDS education
- HIV and solid organ transplantation
- HIV and criminalization
- health care access for non-insured people
