News About Mumps Outbreaks

Mumps is Back

Ontario has seen a significant increase in mumps cases.  As a result, the province is encouraging everyone who has not had two doses of the mumps vaccine to visit their doctor or a local public health unit.  Mumps vaccine is routinely provided as part of a combination mumps/measles/rubella (MMR) vaccine. If you were born between 1970 and 1991, you have likely only been vaccinated once and may be at risk. College and university students may be at a higher risk because they usually live, study, work and socialize in close proximity.
