Visits to Long-Term Care Facilities
What does OHIP cover?
All medically necessary physician visits for assessment and treatment of residents in long-term care facilities are covered by OHIP. In addition, OHIP also covers case conferences which are held for discussing and directing the management of an individual patient.
What is not covered?
OHIP does not pay for services that are not medically necessary, such as cosmetic surgery. Physicians may bill patients for uninsured services.
