MOHLTC Research Unit

The ministry's research investment :
Forging stronger links between researchers and decision makers

The Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care's Research Unit is dedicated to supporting high quality health services research, to making research more relevant to decision makers, and to forging stronger links and more effective working relationships between researchers, decision makers and service providers.

The Research Unit monitors, coordinates and provides leadership to internal and external research activities that contribute to the development of health policy and the dissemination of research findings to support evidence based decision making within Ontario’s health care system.

The Research Unit is part of the Health System Strategy Division. Goals of the ministry's Research Unit :

  • Enhance Ontario’s knowledge base to make decisions about health policy, planning and services;
  • Retain and develop skilled, innovative health services researchers in Ontario
  • Create linkages and foster exchange between service providers, researchers and policymakers.
