Alternative Model Critical Care Response Teams
With the Intensivist-Led CCRTs model established, the Ministry is embarking on a program to test a range of alternative CCRT models in smaller community hospital settings through a demonstration project. From October 2nd to 27th 2006, Ontario hospitals that care for critically ill patients but do not have large ‘Level 3’ ICUs are invited to submit their application for an Alternative Model CCRT. A number of hospitals will be chosen to participate in the demonstration project based on this application process. This demonstration project will lay the foundation for future expansion of CCRTs to community hospitals across the province. Through the demonstration project, the Ministry will be looking to define several alternative CCRT models that can be consistently funded to achieve clearly defined outcomes.
