Intensivist-Led Critical Care Response Teams

The initial rollout of Critical Care Response Teams in 2005/06 is focused on establishing Intensivist-Led CCRTs in larger hospitals that manage the bulk of Ontario’s critical care resources.

Building on a successful demonstration project of the intensivist-led model, the Ministry funded Intensivist-Led CCRTs at 22 hospital sites in 2005/06 (including 3 of pilot sites and 19 new sites). Funding to establish additional intensivist-led CCRTs in more Ontario hospitals in 2006/07 is under review in the Ministry.

A 4-site demonstration project is also being funded to test the applicability of the CCRT model in paediatric hospitals. The twenty-two hospitals that have received funding for Intensivist-Led CCRTs and the four paediatric sites are listed in the chart below.
