How Drugs Are Approved : Funding Decisions

Recommendations from the Committee to Evaluate Drugs (CED) and Executive Officer Decisions

One of the key recommendations from the Transparent Drug System for Patients Act, 2006 is to strengthen the governance of the public drug system, by defining principles – such as transparency and accountability – for all participants. This includes providing clear communications about recommendations, rationale and decisions about the Formulary and the New Drug Funding Program for cancer care.

For more information view the recommendations and rationale from the Committee to Evaluate Drugs (CED) and the final decisions of the Executive Officer for the Ontario Public Drug Programs.

Guidelines have been developed to further explain the Transparency of the Drug Review Process. [PDF]
