Ensuring Better Value for Money

Competitive, Pricing and Listing Agreements Progress

The government is improving access to new drugs by entering into agreements with manufacturers and is exploring options for more competitive prices for drugs through Competitive Agreements.

The ministry has entered into a number of Pricing Agreements with manufacturers for brand name products that are listed on the Formulary. This ensures that taxpayers are getting better value for their money.

As well, the government is improving access to new drugs by entering into Listing Agreements with manufacturers. These are innovative agreements between brand manufacturers and the ministry that support the listing or conditional listing of certain drug products in the Formulary for specific disease management initiatives.

Highlights

  • Listing and pricing agreements have been negotiated for more than 76% of products on the Formulary
  • Pricing agreements have been signed with 98% of companies
