Improving Patient Access to Drugs

Aligning Funding Policies

The government is aligning the public drug system so that funding decisions are made irrespective of where or how the drug is given. For example, in the past, intravenous drugs for cancer care were funded 100%, whereas tablets were subject to a co-payment charge.

Decisions regarding which drugs to fund under Cancer Care Ontario's New Drug Funding Program are made by the Executive Officer of the Ontario Public Drug Programs.
