Strengthening Transparency and Accountability

Citizens' Council Progress

Ontario is creating a Citizens' Council to engage ordinary citizens in discussions about societal values that should be considered in making drug policy decisions. The council is the first of its kind in Canada and one of only a few world-wide. The council will also explore and provide different perspectives, views and opinions related to drug policies and will broadly reflect the values of the population.

Highlights

  • A multi-pronged recruitment campaign is slated for January 2007, including advertising, media relations and email blasts
