OACHA provides broad social and health policy advice to the Minister of Health and Long-Term Care on all aspects of HIV/AIDS.

Membership consists of one third people who are living with HIV/AIDS; one third health care providers; and one third community representatives.

OACHA has developed an HIV/AIDS strategy for Ontario titled, Ontario’s Strategy to Address HIV/AIDS to 2008. For more on the strategy and a copy of the report go to OACHA Strategy.

Some of the areas OACHA is currently involved in are :

  • public health reform in Ontario
  • school-based HIV/AIDS education
  • HIV and solid organ transplantation
  • HIV and criminalization
  • health care access for non-insured people
