Persons who are not psychiatrically stable should seek or be directed to treatment in Ontario. A list of designated psychiatric facilities under the Mental Health Act may be found at the following link: http://www.health.gov.on.ca/en/common/system/services/psych/designated.aspx

Expenses incurred for non-medical services such as travel, accommodation and meals (except where accommodation and meals are part of insured inpatient or residential treatment) are NOT covered by OHIP.

The MOHLTC does not endorse, warrant, guarantee or otherwise certify the quality or standards of treatment or other services provided by preferred providers. These considerations should be reviewed by the patient in consultation with his or her attending physician(s). Hospital scorecards are one tool that may be of assistance to patients and physicians seeking further information about appropriateness, quality and safety.
