West Nile virus : 2002 Archive

Mosquitoes

To conclude 2002 data, as of April 8, 2003, West Nile virus (WNv) positive mosquito data results provided to the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care (MOHLTC) indicated that there were 240 positive mosquito pools in 19 health units.

On April 9, 2003, the MOHLTC received data from Health Canada indicating that there were 598 positive mosquito pools in 21 health units. It was not anticipated that the data provided by Health Canada would be received so close to the 2003 WNv season.

The chart below shows pools (groups) of mosquitoes that have tested positive for WNv in Ontario in 2002.
