* A graduate student at Brock University conducting research into the behaviour of bird-biting mosquitoes recently found eight pools of West Nile virus-positive mosquitoes in the Niagara region. Although the results did not form part of the Health Unit surveillance program, they have been included in our statistics for the Region of Niagara.

Surveillance statistics are current as of 5:00 p.m. EST Monday through Friday.
