Northern Ontario Virtual Library
The Health Sciences Library helps Northern Ontario physicians, nurses, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, and other health care professionals deal with the challenging task of accessing and utilizing best practices for health care. Funded by the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care, the Library provides Northern practitioners with efficient access to quality information at the point of need. The Library provides online access to a selected suite of biomedical databases, full text journals and textbooks for all Northern Ontario regulated health care professionals. Additionally, Northern Ontario health care professionals who do not have access to health information services locally should contact the Library for traditional library services, including: document delivery, mediated literature searching, current awareness, reference, and consultation. To complement the online resources, the Library provides online learning opportunities for health care professionals throughout Northern Ontario. Links to tutorials and guides are available at the Library website. In addition, Librarians regularly schedule visits to northern communities to provide a series of hands-on training sessions. On-going support is also available. To access the Library’s resources, please visit the website at the link below. First time users must complete the Registration Form to obtain a username and password.
