UAP Provincial Consultations

Provincial consultations on renewing Ontario’s Underserviced Area Program (UAP) ended on September 30, 2009.  The consultations sought stakeholder and public input on the ministry proposal to renew the UAP by redesigning and strengthening physician recruitment and retention programs.

The ministry goals are to:

  1. Meet the unique requirements of northern and rural communities that face chronic challenges recruiting and retaining physicians; and
  2. Help all Ontario communities experiencing physician shortages.

More than 200 submissions were received. This input is being weighed carefully, along with other evidence and considerations. More information will be posted when available.

Questions are welcome at  uapcomments@healthforceontario.ca.
