Hospital Planning and Accountability
Ontario's hospital sector has made significant progress in the last two years by evolving to establish a multi-year funding and planning framework. The new framework supports the Ontario government's efforts to enhance hospital stability and accountability by providing a more sustainable financial footing. The Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care is leading negotiations with Ontario's 14 Local Health Integration Networks (LHINs) as its partners. The ministry is signing the 2007/08 accountability agreements with hospital Boards. For more information, see Status of the 2007/08 HAPS/HAA Negotiation Process. Keeping Hospitals Informed
In addition to visiting this site for information and regular updates, read Accountability Agreement Update – a newsletter intended to keep senior executives informed of important new developments related to the current HAPS/HAA negotiation process and hospital accountability. Transitioning to LHINs
The ministry has developed a draft regulation for public consultation, which would see the negotiation of service accountability agreements between LHINs and health service providers being phased in by sector over a three-year period. For more information, see Transitioning to LHINs : Implications for Hospitals. For regular updates intended for the broader health sector about changes that are underway in the ministry and new developments related to LHINs, see the LHIN Bulletins and the Local Health Integration Networks section. |
