Local Public Health Capacity Review

Guiding Principles for Review Process

The Local Public Health Capacity Review Process will be based on the following Principles :

  1. Meaningful participation : Establishment of processes and opportunities for meaningful participation of public health units, municipalities, related associations and others interested in public health to provide advice and input into the key aspects of the review.
  2. Diversity : Recognition of the diversity and uniqueness of Ontario's public health units and the communities they serve.
  3. Best practices : Being informed by key experts, information on best practices as well as existing public health renewal initiatives and studies available locally, provincially, nationally and internationally.
  4. Alignment and Coordination : Actively seeking synergies with other processes such as the development of the Health Protection and Promotion Agency and other health transformation initiatives.
  5. Transparency in Communication : Endeavouring to share the outcomes of deliberations, including the results of studies and consultations, with public health stakeholders in a timely manner throughout the review process.
  6. Sustainability : Focusing on strategies that support long-term and sustainable solutions.
