Homes for Special Care (HSC) Program

Process Guides

Process guides are provided to help understand the guidelines, program requirements, steps, activities and the roles of the key participants in the core financial and operation processes of the Homes for Special Care (HSC) program. They are intended to be a tool used by HSC staff, including Field Staff, Financial Staff and Regional Office staff.

The guides represent the most common methods for completing the processes (the general set of procedures used in the province). In some regions there may be differences in procedures used which may be continued as long as they do not violate HSC policy.

The Process Maps

Process maps are visual flow charts of each of the processes. These maps provide a graphical representation of each of the steps, in chronological order, required to complete a process with start and end points clearly defined. In addition, roles and responsibilities of each of the participants are identified on the maps through the use of "swimlanes". The swimlanes identify each of the participants in the process and the steps they perform, as well as their interaction with other participants throughout the flow of the process. Key documents and forms have also been identified throughout the maps. The attached legend shows the symbols used in the business process maps.
