On August 24, 2007, four 2007 Hospital Reports were released to outline hospitals’ performance in each of the following sectors: acute care, rehabilitation, complex continuing care and emergency care. The last report in the series, focusing on mental health, was released on August 27, 2008.

2006
Acute Care
The Hospital Report 2006 : Acute Care was independently developed and produced by the Canadian Institute for Health Information and the Hospital Report Research Collaborative based at the University of Toronto. The report covers results for 95 out of 123 eligible organizations that voluntarily participated in the report.
Acute care hospitals provide diagnosis, medical care and surgery for serious and/or life threatening conditions. The report also includes a women's health perspective.

2005
Complex Continuing Care
The Hospital Report 2005: Complex Continuing Care was independently developed and produced by the Hospital Report Research Collaborative at the University of Toronto. Complex continuing care provides continuing, medically complex and specialized services to both young and old, sometimes over extended periods of time. Such care also includes support to families who have palliative or respite care needs. It plays an integral role in the treatment offered in Ontario hospitals.
The report includes results for 54 out of 106 hospital corporations in Ontario with designated complex continuing care beds (51 per cent) that voluntarily participated in the report.

Acute Care
The Hospital Report 2005 : Acute Care was independently developed and produced by the Canadian Institute for Health Information and the Hospital Report Research Collaborative at the University of Toronto. This report covers 95 per cent of acute care hospitalizations and includes results for 98 out of 123 eligible organizations that voluntarily participated in the report. It provides information about acute care that involves overnight stays of a relatively short time for serious health problems. Acute care hospitals provide diagnosis, medical care and surgery for serious and/or life-threatening conditions such as a heart attack or stroke.

Emergency Department Care
The Hospital Report 2005 : Emergency Department Care was independently developed and produced by the Hospital Report Research Collaborative at the University of Toronto. The report covers 85% of emergency department visits in hospitals and includes results for 92 of 124 hospital corporations with emergency departments. It provides quality improvement results on treatment of pneumonia, asthma, ankle and foot injuries as well as a variety of measures that deal with change, how patients feel about their care, and financial performance and condition.

Rehabilitation
The Hospital Report 2005 : Rehabilitation was independently developed and produced by the Hospital Report Research Collaborative at the University of Toronto. The report covers adult inpatients who received rehabilitation services for a variety of conditions including, stroke, hip fracture and total joint replacement.

Mental Health 2004
The Hospital Report 2004: Mental Health was independently developed and produced by the Hospital Report Research Collaborative at the University of Toronto. The report addresses adult inpatient mental health care with respect to quality, efficiency, accessibility and finances.

Emergency Department 2003
The Hospital Report 2003: Emergency Department was independently developed and produced by the Hospital Report Research Collaborative at the University of Toronto. The report details the performance of emergency departments at Ontario hospitals. Emergency Care is provided to people at a hospital in the first minutes or hours after an accident or sudden illness.

Complex Continuing Care 2003
The Hospital Report 2003: Complex Continuing Care was independently developed and produced by the Hospital Report Research Collaborative at the University of Toronto. The report details the performance of Care provided in hospital settings. It includes geriatric care to older people, palliative care to those who are dying, and respite care for people being cared for at home so that family caregivers may have a break and renew their energies.

Preliminary Studies
The Hospital Report 2001 : Preliminary Studies was developed to help hospitals better understand and assess the feasibility of detailed reporting within the Hospital Report framework in five specific subject areas. Volume One includes Rehabilitation and Mental Health. Volume Two includes Nursing, Women's Health and Population Health. With this information we can, in partnership with hospitals and health providers, enhance the Hospital Report Series and increase its effectiveness. These studies were also independently researched and produced by the Hospital Report Research Collaborative.
