Ron Sapsford was appointed Deputy Minister of Health and Long-Term Care, effective March 1, 2005. Previously, Mr. Sapsford was the executive vice-president and chief operating officer of Hamilton Health Sciences Corporation.

He has also held positions as the Assistant Deputy Minister of Institutional and Community Services for the Ministry of Health and chief operating officer with the Ontario Hospital Association.

In addition to his extensive experience in the health care field, he is an active contributor to the profession through teaching and committee work.

Mr. Sapsford holds a bachelor of science from the University of Toronto and a master of health administration from the University of Ottawa.
