About EHSB

Toronto houses the head office for provincial Emergency Health Services operations. This includes:

Development of provincial patient care and vehicle and equipment standards, policies and procedures,
Paramedic and ambulance dispatcher education and training,
Paramedic and land ambulance operator certification,
Inspection and investigation services,
Technology, fleet services, and administration.

In managing day-to-day operations of both the municipal land ambulance delivery program and local emergency services communication operations, the province is broken down into smaller regional field areas coordinated through local EHS field offices.

A network of Central Ambulance Communication Centres (CACC) and Ambulance Communications Services (ACS) dispatch land ambulances across Ontario. CACC also coordinates with the Ontario Air Ambulance Dispatch Centre to ensure land ambulance patient transport following air ambulance trips and with other emergency service providers such as fire and police in case of disaster.
