I am an Advanced Care Paramedic working in Ontario who is interested in becoming an air ambulance flight paramedic (ACP-F). What is the procedure?
After working in Ontario on land at the Advanced Care level, many paramedics choose to expand their career to include flight paramedicine. Ornge ACP Flight Bridging Program is designed to 'bridge' the gaps in knowledge and scope of practice between the levels of Advanced Care Land Paramedic (ACP-L) and Advanced Care Flight Paramedic (ACP-F). The student's existing skills and knowledge are taken into account resulting in a shorter and more focused program.
For more information, contact Ornge.
Can Advanced Care Paramedics from outside Ontario become certified as Ontario Air Ambulance Flight Paramedics?
Paramedics from outside Ontario wishing to join the Flight Bridging Program must first successfully complete the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care ACP Equivalency Process. Ornge may also conduct a Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) to ensure that your educational background meets the training objectives necessary to seek advanced standing.
