Influenza Pandemic

Information for Faith Groups

This section was developed to assist the leaders of faith groups and faith-based service providers to prepare for an influenza pandemic. As faith groups and faith-based service providers will have an important role to play in supporting the health and safety of the public during an influenza pandemic, it's important for these organizations to start preparing now.

The resources in this section were developed as part of the Pandemic Planning Workshop for Faith Groups, held in Toronto on May 16, 2006. This event, co-hosted by the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care and the Ontario Multifaith Council on Spiritual and Religious Care (OMC), brought together faith groups, faith-based service providers, and public health officials to discuss pandemic preparedness issues.

For more information on this workshop or future events, contact the OMC by phone at 416-422-1490 or 1-888-837-0923 (toll-free), by email at omcsrc@omc.ca, or visit their website at www.omc.ca.

For help in preparing for an influenza pandemic, faith groups and faith-based service providers are encouraged to contact their local public health unit. Visit the Public Health Units section to access contact information for the public health unit in your locality.
