Expansion of the Publicly-Funded Immunization Program
The following information is intended for health care providers.
As of July 1, 2004, the conjugate pneumococcal vaccine is available for children aged 24 to 59 months who are considered to be at high risk for invasive pneumococcal disease. Below you will find letters to Ontario physicians regarding the provision of this vaccine.
By January 1, 2005, two additional publicly funded vaccines will be added to the recommended schedule of routine childhood immunizations - vaccines for chicken pox and meningococcal meningitis. Resources are listed here to provide further information on immunization.
