Public Notice : Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care Public Health Laboratories

On December 15, 2008, the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care will transfer the management and operation of Ontario’s public health laboratories to the Ontario Agency for Health Protection and Promotion (the ‘Agency’), a Crown agent established under the Ontario Agency for Health Protection and Promotion Act.

As part of this transfer, the records held by the Ministry’s public health laboratories will become the responsibility of the Agency. Current services will not be affected and the records will continue to be subject to legislated requirements for privacy and confidentiality, including those set out in the Personal Health Information Protection Act, 2004.
