Local Health Integration Networks

Bulletin No. 12 / May 16, 2005

As the ministry prepares to establish the 14 Local Health Integration Networks in Ontario, we are pleased to provide you with a summary analysis of the 14 LHIN integration priority reports submitted to the ministry earlier this year. This document, along with the individual report for each LHIN, will be made available to the founding LHIN boards and CEOs upon start up.

Integration Priority Reports – Summary Analysis

As a result of the 14 LHIN community workshops and subsequent work, members of the LHIN communities prepared and submitted to the ministry 14 integration priority reports, one for each LHIN.

This bulletin contains a summary analysis of the integration priority reports in the following areas :

  • Overview of the priority initiatives identified in the reports.
  • Key themes emerging from the various initiatives and general qualitative and quantitative information on the initiatives within each theme.
Beginning of a Process

The ministry believes that the integration priority reports and the summary analysis will help the founding LHIN boards, CEOs and the LHIN communities to develop more comprehensive integrated health system plans for their respective LHINs.

The workshops and the preparation of the reports were only the beginning of an ongoing community engagement process for the stakeholders and citizens of each LHIN area. As LHINs become operational, it will be critical for health care professionals, provider organizations and other community leaders to continue this process, by working with people in their own LHIN communities, as well as other LHINs.
