Socio-Economic Indicators Atlas

Socio-economic status (SES) is recognized as an important determinant of health and the link between health status, utilization of health services and SES is well established. These reports, produced by the Health System Intelligence Project (HSIP), are designed to illustrate the relative socio-economic disadvantage of communities according to Local Health Integration Network (LHIN) geographic area. They provide a broad-ranging social, economic and demographic profile for each LHIN, using data from the 2001 Census of Canada.

The Health Plannerís Toolkit

The Health Plannerís Toolkit provides conceptual guidance and practical advice on proven planning methods, as well as supporting evidence and targeted research summaries. It comprises seven modules :

Module 1 : The Planning Process
Module 2 : Assessing Need
Module 3 : Evidence-Based Planning
Module 4 : Understanding Integration
Module 5 : Community Engagement and Communication
Module 6 : Evaluation

This toolkit has been produced by the Health System Intelligence Project (HSIP), an initiative that is part of the Information Management Strategy.

Acute Care Utilization Reports

Identifying and understanding patterns of health care utilization is essential for health care planning and monitoring. These reports, produced by the Health System Intelligence Project (HSIP), examine patterns of acute care hospital use. They are the first in a series of reports on health service utilization according to LHIN geographic area.

The Health Analyst's Toolkit

The Health Analyst's Toolkit is specifically designed for analysts and epidemiologists working in, or for, Ontarioís Local Health Integration Networks (LHINs). The toolkit includes a Knowledge section, which covers a variety of important topics relevant to LHIN analyses, and a Data section, which identifies and describes highly relevant data sources.

The toolkit is intended to be used by those with some data analysis experience and assumes familiarity with basic technical language and concepts. The contributors all have experience manipulating data to provide local area estimates, health status measures and health care utilization indicators.

This toolkit has been produced by the Health System Intelligence Project (HSIP), an initiative that is part of the Information Management Strategy.

Population Health Profiles

These fourteen profiles provide the first snapshot of the overall health status of Ontarians within the new LHIN geographic areas. They also show how specific LHINs measure up to the provincial average in a number of areas associated with general population health status.

The profiles were developed for the LHINs by the Health System Intelligence Project (HSIP) and are part of a series of reports for their areas. Upcoming reports will focus on health services utilization and socio-demographic determinants of health.
