Narcotics Monitoring System

The development of the Narcotics Monitoring System (“NMS”) is now complete. Beginning April 16, 2012, pharmacies will begin to submit dispensing information about all monitored drugs to the NMS. All pharmacies are required to begin submitting this information no later than May 14, 2012.

Dispensers are required to submit dispensing information about all monitored drugs to the NMS, and must do so in accordance with the Ontario Drug Programs Reference Manual.

The ministry has developed a list of questions and answers to facilitate a better understanding of what the launch of the NMS will mean for health care providers and to explain the process for submitting information for monitored drugs to the NMS. Learn more >>

Where can I find information to provide to the patient?

Information packages have been sent to prescribers and dispensers across Ontario. These packages contain important information to be posted at your office or business and to be handed out to patients.
