Emergency Planning and Preparedness
Hospital Chemical/Biological/Radiological/Nuclear (CBRN) Emergency Preparedness Program
In January 2005, the Minister of Health and Long-Term Care announced funding in the amount of $13.5M over three years to equip all hospital sites that offer emergency/urgent care with a standardized package of CBRN supplies and equipment.
The principles of the program are :
- Provincial standardization
- Inter/intra-operability
- Equipment purchases to be informed by experts in the field and appropriate to role of hospitals
- Cost-effective
- Opportunity for reimbursement for hospitals who have invested in equipment identical to that purchased by ministry
- Consistent training provided across facilities: both in technical use of equipment and wider Ministry curriculum
This site will provide you with information on the types of supplies and equipment purchased for hospitals and the training program developed to support the program.
The Hospital CBRN Emergency Preparedness Program is delivered by the ministry's Emergency Management Branch. For further information on the program, please send us an email at emergencymanagement.moh@ontario.ca.
