Re: Review of the GP Focused Practice Designation Program

Posted Electronically Only

PDF Version

The Ministry of Health (the ministry) and the Ontario Medical Association (OMA), through the Primary Care Working Group (PCWG), have agreed to carry out a joint review of the GP Focused Practice Designation Program.

The PCWG will discuss program parameters to determine how the intent of the program is being satisfied and identify what improvements might be made.

Please note that all outstanding applications for a GP Focused Practice designation are being reviewed using current program eligibility criteria. It is anticipated that the review will be completed before February 1, 2020, in time for the spring application deadline and that program eligibility and application requirements may change.

However, if the review continues past this date, applications will be accepted and assessed under the current criteria until the PCWG completes its review.

Additional information about changes to the program will be shared upon completion of the review.

The Ontario Medical Association (OMA) continues to be the initial program contact with physicians.
