| New Provincial Identifier Code for Billing of Medical Claims for Services Provided to Residents of Newfoundland and Labrador | |

This Bulletin is a follow-up communication to
providers regarding the submission of claims for services provided to residents
of Newfoundland and Labrador. Further to OHIP Bulletin #4408 dated January 16, 2004, effective July 17, 2004, the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care claims payment system will no longer accept claims using the provincial identifier code “NF” for services provided to residents of Newfoundland and Labrador. Health care providers must use the new provincial identifier code of “NL” on all future claim submissions to the ministry. As of December 2003, claims submitted for Reciprocal Medical Billings (RMB) for physician services provided to residents of Newfoundland and Labrador, have appeared on the provider’s RMB Remittance Advice with the provincial identifier code of “NL”. |
