New Feature – SADIE Delegates Now Available

Introducing the SADIE Delegation Feature

The Ministry of Health continues to modernize its Exceptional Access Program (EAP) and transition away from the fax-based process by December 31, 2021.

As the next major step forward, we are excited to announce that prescribers can now assign delegates in SADIE who can work on their behalf to create and submit requests to the EAP. The new delegate role allows prescribers to focus on direct patient care, while their delegates perform the administrative functions on their behalf.

Last year we launched the designate role which allows designates to prepare EAP requests for the prescriber to review and submit. This led to a 60% increase in the use of SADIE, with those using SADIE once continuing to use it for all of their EAP requests.

In addition to being able to submit a request on behalf of a prescriber, delegates now have extended administrative capabilities within SADIE to support prescribers in being able to maintain SADIE user accounts and practice location details.

For more information about delegates and instructions on setting up their accounts, see the Quick Reference – How to Set-up a Delegate or Designate guide.

Benefits of SADIE Now

  • Delegates can submit requests to the EAP.
  • By December 2021 – EAP request submission and responses will be through SADIE only. Use of fax technology discontinued.
  • Accessible wherever and whenever prescribers work – SADIE is available 24x7 on your computer, tablet, or smart phone.
  • Easy to use – Requests can be submitted in as little as 2 minutes!
  • Smart forms that streamline submissions for any drug by asking questions specific to the patient’s circumstances.
  • Designates can prepare an EAP request for a prescriber to review and submit.
  • Faster decisions and a reduction in requests for additional information.
